Meet the Mental Health Mallard

A four part series for the legends at The Livin' Foundation, Australia. The series forms part of a wider course that Livin' delivers to groups about mental health. 

These scripts address the most important factors for a viewer, so that they learn how to identify and address their own, and their loved ones, mental health. To have the audience fully appreciate the information, our approach needed to be entertaining and engaging, without making light of an important topic that affects us all. 

Working closely with The Livin' Foundation, we workshopped various suitable concepts. Cognisant that we wanted to stay as far away from "explainer animation" as possible, these initially ranged vastly in their tone and manner.  From an abstract "Saul Bass" inspired motion-graphic to an moody art piece that spent 24 hours in someone's mind, as they experience mental ill-health. Eventually, we settled on a cartoon approach and hence a cast of birds fluttered in to being, bringing a fun, captivating and loveable set of characters. 

Thanks to the mental health experts at Livin' the stories sit beautifully in a space that is educational and importantly are readily consumable for young adults and up.
